Spin Your Way Into Spring

Equinox, the upscale fitness and high performance lifestyle leader, announces the launch of The Pursuit by Equinox, an immersive, highly competitive cycling class combining in-class challenges with real-time data creating an unparalleled experience in the cycling category, at Equinox Sports Club on Avery Street, beginning in March.

The Pursuit by Equinox is the first-of-its-kind combining groundbreaking in-studio gaming and data visualization to drive competition and inspire peak performance – completely changing the way you ride.

Scientifically designed to push riders to a new level of fitness, The Pursuit by Equinox launches with two distinct classes: The Pursuit: Build and The Pursuit: Burn. Take on intense and demanding hill stages with The Pursuit: Build, designed to improve endurance, increase strength, and improve riders’ ability to work harder for longer. Set the bike on fire with precisely timed HIIT intervals with The Pursuit: Burn, created to maximize performance and optimize caloric expenditure. Both classes are grounded in competition and team work, encouraging camaraderie and community inside and outside of Equinox clubs.

“As part of our ongoing digital expansion, The Pursuit by Equinox leverages the brand’s digital platform to create an in-studio cycling experience for our members that is unlike anything in the current landscape,” said Carlos Becil, Chief Marketing Officer, Equinox. “Designed exclusively for Equinox by industry leading experts in fitness and technology, our goal is to further engage our members and extend emotional camaraderie by using team and individual competition to build community and challenge riders to meet, and even surpass, their personal goals.”

Key class elements include:

Dynamic Graphics and Challenges

Using real-time performance stats displayed through proprietary graphics and leaderboards, riders are challenged to push their limits with high intensity gaming. Multiple engagement styles (individual and team challenges) are used to form an energetic environment that incites motivation and fosters a team mindset, enabling members to achieve maximum results. Games and leaderboards guide riders throughout the class, displaying individual and team performance to truly bring coaching sequences to life.

Performance Tracking

The Pursuit by Equinox extracts data from bike consoles to project real-time class performance statistics (inclusive of distance, wattage and speed) to inform the leaderboard and class challenges, allowing riders to visualize performance and motivate them towards specific performance objectives. Every class generates over

500,000 records of data experience in real time as game and data visualizations.

Members can track their individual stats from the class in a dedicated cycling section of the Equinox website and app. The cycling section will also house class data such as leaderboard scores, challenges and recommendations, giving members deeper insights to their performance over time.

To further enhance the member experience, Equinox is introducing a new digital coaching platform, Connected Cycling. Connected Cycling delivers performance data and insights to unite the Equinox community of riders. Whether members are taking The Pursuit by Equinox or another Equinox cycling class, they’ll be able to track their performance over time in addition to engaging with other riders within the Equinox community.

Member Connectivity

Utilizing team and individual competitions, the class builds a community of Equinox riders while challenging them to meet, and even surpass, their personal goals. By fostering connectivity, the class inspires top performance and further extends the team experience in and outside the clubs. Through maximizing data tracking, riders are encouraged to share their goals and milestones via social media with the Equinox member community.

The Pursuit will be offered at Equinox Sports Club on Avery Street on Mondays from 7:00PM-7:50PM with Kristy DiScipio, Wednesdays from 6:00PM-6:50PM with Ch’ien Chan and Thursdays from 12:30PM-1:20PMwith Alex Figueroa.
